ICAS 2007 First Look

By Joe Gonzalez

This year the ICAS (International Council Of Airshows) was again held at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev. The exhibits featured many organizations and performers, and were well attended. ICAS allows performers, show organizers, and sponsors to look each other over. Performers are always looking for opportunities, so if you are planning an airshow, and looking for something different, a big name, or new talent, ICAS is the biggest and best place to do it.

Many show promoters and performers calendars benefit from attendance at ICAS. Not only can you fill your calendar, but also attend seminars related to the airshow world and business.

The main emphasis going into the new year is safety, safety, and once again, safety. For the performers, the show operators and promoters, the viewing audience, and the aircraft and support equipment themselves. Concerns for show sponsors and performers alike include rocketing insurance premiums, fuel prices going up up and away, more and more regulations by the FAA, maintenance costs. The aviation community has weathered slow economies before, and will do so again.

Think about planes flying high, think warm beautiful blue skies, and the best way to enjoy these is, of course, at your favorite airshow in 2008!!
